England substitute Teddy Sheringham had only been on the pitch for a matter of seconds when he equalised.

Captain David Beckham curled an in-swinging free-kick into the box from the left.

Sheringham beat his marker Costas Konstantinidis to the ball and sent a looping header over Greek keeper Antonis Nikopolidis and into the net.
