12 mins: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer threatens an equaliser for the home side as he finds space for a volley but sends his shot straight at Paul Jones.

Norway 0-1 Wales

5 mins: Henning Berg sends a dipping effort just over the bar after stealing forward menacingly.

Team news:

With Norway not having won a competitive game in 10 outings and Wales also out of the qualification picture, both teams are merely playing for pride.

Wales, predictably, brought John Hartson back into their goal-shy attack after suspension.

He replaced Iwan Roberts, while Robert Page took over in defence from the suspended Andy Melville.

Norway, whose manager Nils Semb is under huge pressure because of their failure to qualify from Group Five despite being top seeds, brought in Liverpool's new teenager John Arne Riise for Andre Bergdolmo.

Norway: Myhre, Basma, Ronny Johnsen, Berg, Riise, Roar Strand, Sorensen, Leonhardsen, Rudi, Solskjaer, Iversen. Subs: Baardsen, Bergdolmo, Hoftun, Frode Johnsen, Pal Strand, Carew, Hestad.

Wales: Paul Jones, Delaney, Page, Symons, Jenkins, Savage, Carl Robinson, Davies, Giggs, Bellamy, Hartson. Subs: Ward, John Robinson, Iwan Roberts, Blake, Matthew Jones, Barnard, Koumas.

Referee: F Stuchlik (Austria)
