Taylor earns Wales recall
Gareth Taylor (C)
Gareth Taylor has resurrected his career at Burnley
Wales manager Mark Hughes has named his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Armenia in Cardiff on 1 September and away to Norway in Oslo four days later.

Burnley striker Gareth Taylor has been recalled to the Wales squad after a three-year absence.

The big striker, who has salvaged his career with a free transfer move from Manchester City to Burnley, last played for his country against Jamaica in Cardiff in March 1998.

He was frozen out at City last season as they plunged towards relegation from the Premiership, and ended up on loan at Turf Moor.

This term that move has been made permanent and he opened the season with a goal in Sunday's 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Taylor is included because John Hartson and Nathan Blake are suspended for the first game with Armenia at the Millennium Stadium, but both are in the squad and will be available for the Norway match.

Injured stars Gary Speed, Robbie Savage and John Robinson are all included in the squad, with Hughes convinced they will be fit for the double header.

Preston North End left-back Rob Edwards also gets another chance despite dropping out of the last games because of a family holiday.

The Wales Under-21 squad for their double header includes Jason Jones, Lee Jenkins, Gareth Phillips and Stuart Roberts of Swansea, the Wrexham pair of David Walsh and Steve Thomas, while Cardiff's Daniel Gabbidon, Leyton Maxwell and Rob Earnshaw also earn call-ups.

Wales squad: P Jones (Southampton), Crossley (Middlesbrough), Ward (Forest), Freestone (Swansea), Jenkins (Huddersfield), Delaney (Aston Villa), Melville, Symons (both Fulham), Page (Watford), Barnard (Barnsley), J Robinson (Charlton), C Robinson (Wolves), M Jones, Savage (both Leicester), Speed, Bellamy (both Newcastle), Koumas (Tranmere), Giggs (Man Utd), I Roberts (Norwich), S Davies (Spurs), R Edwards (Preston), Pembridge (Everton), Hartson (Celtic), G Taylor (Burnley), Blake (Blackburn).

Wales Under-21 squad: Walsh (Wrexham), J Jones (Swansea), Hillier (Tottenham), Price (Hull), Day (Man City), Gabbidon, Maxwell, Earnshaw (all Cardiff), Jenkins, G Phillips, S Roberts (both Swansea), Valentine (Everton), Slatter (Chelsea), S Thomas (Wrexham), Williams (Man Utd), Gibson (Sheff Wed), J Thomas (Blackburn), Llewellyn (Norwich).
