Eriksson can fine-tune England engine
An England fan shows his colours
England supporters had plenty to shout about at Pride Park
BBC Sport Online's Stuart Roach sees England manager Sven Goran Eriksson continue his golden touch with a 4-0 win over Mexico at Pride Park.

Never before has an England manager won his first five games in charge, but few would bet against Sven Goran Eriksson creating England history in Greece.

Eriksson's England roadshow rumbled into Derby on Wednesday, a four-goal demolition of Mexico ensuring plenty of pride at Pride Park.

But now the heat is really turned up as England enter the humidity and hostility of Athens.

Eriksson: Will not be afraid to make changes
England's first-half display against Mexico was outstanding, but that will count for nothing if they come away from Greece empty-handed.

The immediate calls will be for Eriksson to keep faith with his Pride Park starting 11 as England aim for the victory which would keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.

But Eriksson will not be afraid to make changes.

Jamie Carragher, for one, should be given the call at left back.

Ashley Cole has been a revelation for Arsenal and has slotted into the international set-up as if he had been there for years.

McManaman hopeful

But his forward raiding style could leave England vulnerable and Carragher would offer a more solid option.

On the other side, Phil Neville may have to make way for his brother or Wes Brown if either of his Manchester United colleagues recover from injury in time.

And Steve McManaman remains hopeful of a call-up at the expense of Emile Heskey, hard working but out of position on the left side of midfield.

Tinkering with an engine that has run so smoothly may seem ill-advised, but Eriksson needs to fine tune.

He will not get carried away and will be well aware that Mexico provided woefully inadequate opposition.

Greece is the word - and the script has been written for England.

Eriksson must ensure that his leading men do not fluff their lines.
