Cheryl Foster wants Liverpool Ladies to believe again

Liverpool Ladies forward Cheryl Foster says her team must not be disheartened by their poor start to the Women's Super League.

After six games the Reds are bottom of the WSL with only two points.

Foster told BBC Radio Merseyside: "It's a learning curve and it's the first half of the first Super League season.

"We knew it was going to be tough and we knew we were going to be underdogs. We've got to make sure we have that belief again."

Liverpool's anguish continued on Sunday after a 1-0 defeat by fellow strugglers Lincoln, their fourth league reverse of the campaign.

The Reds travel to Birmingham on Thursday, who are the only unbeaten team in the league this season and sit top with 16 points.

Despite having already suffered a 4-0 loss against the team from the Midlands last month, Foster is far from intimidated ahead of the game.

"We proved that we can defend much better than we have done in previous games," said the Wales international. "We've got to make sure we go into that game with more focus on our defensive aspects.

"We've got to go into it doing what we can do, we can't go there just thinking about them. We've got to take the positives from Sunday's game with Lincoln and we can create chances.

"We've just got to make sure we go in there with a positive mind. Yes, they're at the top of the table because they've been playing good football.

"But, on the same front, a lot of teams have been allowing them to play good football."
