Yankey is only the second England lady to be capped 100 times
Rachel Yankey celebrated her 100th cap with a goal as England eased to three points against Turkey and went top of their World Cup qualifying group.
Hope Powell's team will still have to get through a play-off tie to reach next year's finals in Germany.
But they will be one of the top seeds for September's play-offs and will certainly be expected to get there.
Yankey's goal - her 13th for England - was followed by strikes from winger Jess Clarke and substitute Ellen White.
England Coach Powell said: "We got the job done - we lost our focus at times and their goalkeeper had a blinder, but we persevered and created lots of chances.
"The important thing was getting the three points to make sure we topped the group, and we've done that with a game to spare and that's very pleasing.
"Rachel's achievement is fantastic and I'm delighted for her. I told her to go out and enjoy the night and she really did - her 100th cap, a goal and player of the match!"
Females getting more respect - Yankey
In an easy win for Powell's team, Yankey, who was captain for the night, had already hit the bar with a 10th minute effort before opening the scoring with a low, 15 yard angled drive.
Good chances were squandered, most notably by striker Eni Aluko, as England built up the pressure.
But White, on for Aluko at half-time, doubled the score with a neat close-range finish in the 62nd minute.
Goalkeeper Duygu Yilmaz denied Katie Chapman, Jill Scott and White with excellent saves.
But in the 76th minute Clarke headed home Yankey's corner to put the result beyond any doubt.
Yankey, only the second player to reach the 100 cap mark for England, said: "It was a very special night for me and really nice to be made captain.
"I hadn't scored an England goal for a while so when my shot went in the emotion really came out, especially as it was an important goal for us.
"We have to build on this now and make sure we get through the play-offs because we're all desperate to get to the finals."
