Women's football

Leeds Carnegie Ladies could play their last ever game on Wednesday when they go to champions Arsenal Ladies.

Leeds will not be entering next season's newly formed Super League after their backers pulled out, meaning their future is in serious doubt.

The Gunners won their seventh successive league title after they beat Everton on Sunday.

Arsenal have already beaten Leeds twice this season, 3-2 in the Women's FA Cup fifth round and 1-0 in the league.

Leeds manager Rick Passmoor told BBC Radio Leeds: "What a way to end our season to play at the Emirates Stadium and I think it will spur us on and make us determined to win the game.

"To play on a pitch of that quality and size will be great and will suit our style of play.

"We'll have a good few supporters going down with us and we'll try and entertain but more importantly try and win for them.

"All the girls deserve to finish with a win, if this is to be our very last game as a club or squad then there wouldn't be a more fitting way than to win against a great team in a great stadium."
