Celtic defeated Hibernian 2-1 in the match of the day, but it was Glasgow City who took over as Scottish Women's Premier League leaders.

Hibs had started the weekend leading on goal difference from three other teams with 100% records, including Celtic.

Stacey Cook gave Celtic the lead and a Lisa Robertson own goal made it 2-0 before Jenna Ross replied for Hibs.

But Glasgow's 14-0 win away to Aberdeen put City top, while Spartans slumped to a surprise 4-3 defeat by Rangers.

Cheryll Gallacher was the match winner against Spartans with a hat-trick for the newly-promoted Ibrox side.

But that feat was surpassed by Leanne Ross, who grabbed eight goals for reigning champions Glasgow in their win away to the Dons to put her team above Celtic on goal difference.

Inverness are now level with Spartans and Hibs, three points behind the top two after four games of the new summer-football season, Leanne Calder scoring a hat-trick in their 5-0 win over Kilmarnock.

Dundee United and Boroughmuir Thistle are still without a point, United losing 3-2 away to Hamilton Accies and Boroughmuir losing 2-1 away to Forfar Farmington.

Scottish Women's Premier League results

Aberdeen 0-14 Glasgow City, Celtic 2-1 Hibernian, Forfar Farmington 2-1 Boroughmuir, Hamilton 3-2 Dundee United, Inverness 5-0 Kilmarnock, Hamilton Academical 2-1 Boroughmuir Thistle.
