Everton & Arsenal progress in Cup

By Tony Leighton

Women's football

England Under-19 star Toni Duggan hit a hat-trick as Everton breezed into the FA Women's Cup quarter-finals with a 7-0 trouncing of Portsmouth.

Holders Arsenal had a tougher time to reach the last eight, England winger Rachel Yankey's late goal giving them a 3-2 win against Leeds Carnegie.

In the quarter-finals Arsenal face Doncaster Belles and Everton face Blackburn Rovers.

The Belles beat Birmingham 1-0 and Blackburn beat Lincoln 1-0.

FA Women's Cup, fifth round

Everton 7-0 Portsmouth

Duggan and Jill Scott hit first half goals to put the Toffees on the way to their big win.

Pompey had battled well but their hopes were ended when Natasha Dowie and Duggan doubled the home side's lead in the early stages of the second period.

Fara Williams and Jody Handley added further goals before Duggan completed her hat-trick two minutes from time.

Arsenal 3-2 Leeds Carnegie

Scotland midfielder Jennifer Beattie gave Arsenal a 15th-minute lead, but following an even first half Ellen White equalised eight minutes after the break.

Wales captain Jayne Ludlow restored the Gunners' lead just before the hour and Yankey got the all-important third goal in the 79th minute.

Jess Clarke reduced the arrears three minutes later but, despite further pressure, the visitors were unable to force the tie into extra time.

Birmingham 0-1 Doncaster Rovers Belles

The key moment of a hard fought contest arrived in the 35th minute, when Harrop was dismissed for a penalty area foul on Rachel Williams.

Donny captain Vicky Exley scored from the resultant spot-kick, but Blues hit back for Isabel Christiansen to strike the woodwork two minutes before the interval.

The depleted home side continued to press after the break, but the Belles held out.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 OOH Lincoln (aet)

Blackburn striker Katie Anderton missed a second half penalty but made amends with a spectacular overhead kick to win the tie two minutes from the end of extra time.

West Ham United 2-3 Barnet (aet)

In a thrilling game between Southern Division rivals, West Ham twice came from behind but couldn't do it a third time after Claire Thomas' late extra time goal.

Nina Downham hit both of the Hammers' equalisers, first after Holly Sandow's opener then after a Gemma Rudman goal.

Thomas scored with four minutes of extra time remaining, but West Ham had another equalising chance with seconds left - only for Becky Merritt to miss a penalty.

FA Women's Cup, fourth round

Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea (aet)

A 34th minute header by Katie Williams had Liverpool on the brink of victory before Dani Buet equalised with only 90 seconds left on the clock.

Buet's England colleague Casey Stoney settled the tie with a back-heeled goal five minutes from the end of extra time.

In the other delayed fourth round ties, Yeovil Town won 3-1 at Norwich City and Curzon Ashton had a convincing 5-0 victory at Liverpool Feds.

Revised quarter-final draw

Arsenal v Doncaster Rovers Belles

Barnet v Yeovil Town or Nottingham Forest

Curzon Ashton or Aston Villa v Chelsea or Millwall Lionesses

Everton v Blackburn Rovers
