Hibs' Brown wins Scotland call-up

Scotland coach Anna Signeul
Signeul's side are preparing to face Slovakia in their qualifying group

Hibernian midfielder Frankie Brown has been called into the Scotland squad for the first time for two friendly internationals against Finland.

Brown impressed in the recent Under-23 Nordic Cup tournament in Sweden.

Fellow Hibs midfielder Kirsty McBride returns to the squad after an absence to complete her police training.

Natalie Ross, the 18-year-old former Hibs midfielder, joins the squad for the first time since completing her move to Arsenal in the close season.

Scotland's matches against Finland on 24 and 27 August are designed to prepare the team for the Scots' crucial European Championship qualifier against Slovakia.

National coach Anna Signeul said: "We have a massive European Championship qualifying match coming up against Slovakia at the end of September.

"These two games against Finland will give us a tough test."

Scotland need to beat Slovakia in their final group match to be in with a chance of qualifying for the European finals as one of the four best third-placed finishers.

The match against Finland on Sunday 24 August will take place at Pietarsaaren Keskuskenttä, Pietarsaari, while the Wednesday game is at Hietalahden Stadion, Vaasa.
