Rachel Unitt (r) and her team are preparing for the Premier League
Everton Ladies manager Mo Marley felt it was missed chances that caused her side's 1-0 defeat by Arsenal in the FA Women's Community Shield.
The Blues had many chances to score in the opening period but they failed to beat Emma Byrne in the Gunners goal.
"You get little openings in games and you have to take them," Marley told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"They had one good chance and they took it. That's the difference, that's the class and that's the quality."
The Blues' best opening in the game came on the stroke of half-time, but 17-year-old Toni Duggan shot wide of the Arsenal goal.
It was nice build-up in spells but not that ruthless edge

Marley says the team's chance building was what she expects and admitted the Duggan miss was an unusual one.
"Normally Toni would put them away," Marley continued.
"But I think that summed up everybody's game really. It's nice build-up in spells but not that ruthless edge.
"At least we're getting there now. I've said in the past; normally we don't create a chance against Arsenal but we've surpassed that and we've over come that."
