By Andrew McKenzie

"The Germans will thrash this lot. Guaranteed."
NeilyMcG on 606

1454: Congratulations to Brazil and in particular Marta, who put on a woman-of-the-match performance. It promises to be an intriguing final against the Germans. I'm signing off for now. Thanks for all your messages - I've had a ball.

1452: FULL-TIME USA 0-4 Brazil
The USA's misery is over - and so is their 51-match unbeaten run. A comprehensive victory for the Brazilians, who were emphatic winners even taking into account Boxx's sending off.

"This result just goes to show how poor England were."

1448: The USA get a couple of chances for a consolation prize after Andreia fails to gather but the ball goes too wide and they cannot capitalise. Nothing has gone right for Greg's girls today.

1446: The post comes to the USA's rescue as Christiane finds space in the box and cracks a low shot just off target.

1444: Brazil want five and Daniela is keen for a piece of the action as she curls a shot just off target.

"What a goal by Marta. That had nothing to do with playing against 10 men. That was pure class!"
coatsie on 606

Ten men, 10 women or 10 Franz Beckenbauers - there's no stopping Marta!

1438: GOAL USA 0-4 Brazil
Well it was coming and when it arrived it was well worth the wait. Marta scores a goal that Ronaldinho would have been proud of. She turns Ellertson with a flick of the ankle before cutting inside and applying the finishing touch. Sheer delightful football.

1437: It is carnival time in Hangzou as Brazil are looking for a fourth - and not just any old fourth. Marta gets out her box of tricks as she dances into the area and squares for Christiane, but her shot is straight at Scurry.

1436: Formiga almost puts the cherry on the sundae with a run and a shot from the edge of the box that is just wide.

"Touch. I'll be straight down the pub at 5!. C u down there Mr Mck."
Pele jnr via text

Unfortunately I don't finish until 8pm Mr Pele jnr.

"Vamos la Brasil!!!! Mas chega de essas vergonhas que nem a Christiane fez."
coatsie on 606 (I really do hope this is not offensive to anyone)

"Ah well, I won't have to support Germany in the final now!!"
villamore on 606

1428: It sounds like the Chinese fans have turned and have started supporting the USA - unless the Americans have just bussed in a few thousand fans to help out.

1426: There are more goals here if Brazil want them - but perhaps they have an eye on staying fresh for the final. Still, Marta almost gets on the end of an Elaine pass. Scurry gets across to cut out the danger.

1424: Renata goes down with what looks like a bit of cramp. She's stretchered off but looks happy enough at the chance for a little lie down.

1421: USA's best chance of the game as the ball falls kindly to their skipper Lilly in the area, but she shoots tamely at Andreia from 12 yards out.

"New Yorkers won't be enjoying switching their TVs on this morning."
BBC commentator Guy Mowbray

"Can Pele buy me a pint? I've a tenner on the US at evens."

"USA will still qualify for the final and win the World Cup i bet my life on it."
coolwestie08 on 606

Good job no-one took that bet.

1415: GOAL USA 0-3 Brazil
Game, set and match. Brazil are home and dry as Formiga crosses for Christiane, who has all the time in the world to slot home number three.

1413: The USA get a rare sniff of goal but Lloyd fires well wide. But it is not long before they are back on the backfoot and Christiane looks to add a bit of Brazilian magic with an attempted overhead kick that did not quite come off.

1411: Maycon goes flying down the left again before firing just wide. There's no stopping her - she's electric. I wonder if she's got a family full of eccentrics.

"The Boxx Red Card was a complete joke...but consistent with a anti-American theme I've noticed in sports since the Bush-led war in Iraq. It seems like USA vs the World and this Red Card reminds me of the men's match with Italy in last summer's World Cup. There's no coming back now. Let the World Celebrate."
smarauder68 on 606

1409: Maycon sets up Daniela who drives a shot just wide of the target. Another goal and it would be goodnight USA.

1407: Maycon runs onto a throughball and almost profits from a rebound that hits the side netting. Brazil are starting to tease their opponents.

1405: Apparently Hope Solo was out warming up at half-time but no sign of a goalkeeping change so far.

1404: The USA players came out early for a bit of team bonding and they have made one change with Lloyd on for Lopez. They look like they are going to go for a 3-3-3 formation.

1404: The second half is up and running.

"The ref will be handing out cards for sneezing next."
coatsie on 606

"Question: If Uefa have banned Mikoliunas for two matches for diving against Scotland, can Fifa ban Cristiane from the World Cup Final for celebrating Boxx's sending off like she'd just scored the winning goal, especially as she knew she was never fouled?"
Mike Martin on 606

"I thought this was a USA banker - my coupon is now out the window."
lgardner writes them off on 606

"A man down they have everything to play for - they are unbeaten in three years and they won't want that record to slip."
BBC pundit Mark Bright is not writing off the Americans

1353: The big talk in the BBC studio is inevitably about Greg Ryan's decision to leave Hope Solo out and Boxx's red card. The replays showed Christiane actually tripped over Boxx - and her reaction the dismissal is not pretty. She celebrates like she has just won the tournament. Not the Brazilian way.

"I've got Brazil at 11-4. I'll buy Del Boy a pint."
Pele jnr via text

You can send that pint to me at the BBC, Pele. I'll make sure Del Boy gets it.

"Re: the Boxx red card. That was the worst refereeing decision I've EVER SEEN. The USA have been had."
Mike Martin on 606

1349: The half-time whistle goes and it has been all Brazil so far. Plenty for Greg Ryan to think about.

"The Brazilian attacking players have something that the England girls do not posses (apart from Kelly Smith), the ability to retain possession in attacking positions. Great to watch.
coatsie on 606

It just got a lot tougher for the Yanks as they are reduced to 10 women in first-half injury time. Boxx brings down a charging Christiane and earns her second yellow of the game.

1344: Renata is the latest Brazilian to go in the book after sticking out a leg to bring down Chalupny. It gives the USA a chance to get the ball in the mixer but Brazil deal with it easily.

1340: Some delicious stuff from the Brazilians and it ends with Daniela drilling it a shot just over from wide out on the right. If it had gone in it would have been a bit like Josimar's goal in the 1986 World Cup. Not sure the celebrations would have been as good though.

1338: Marta goes to ground after taking a whack in the back of the head from Osborne. It's getting physical out there.

"Can the USA Scurry into the final now they have no Hope? Should they have gone Solo? Awful isn't it!
Darren Johnson

1334: Chalupny looks like the USA's best chance of getting back into this game. She tries her luck from downtown but it is wide of the Brazilian goal.

"That Elaine injury was the strangest thing I've seen all World Cup. Leg wobbling, towel cooling, then water poured down her back - looked like she was getting an exorcism at one point.
Anonymous via text

"At least she didn't miskick a backpass like a female Paul Robinson!"
mikesiva on 606

1328: What will USA coach Greg Ryan be thinking now? He looks like he might have dropped a clanger in leaving out Hope Solo, who had not conceded in the previous three games. What chance a goalkeeping change at half-time?

1327: GOAL USA 0-2 Brazil
Brazil take another step towards the final as Marta drives cuts onto her left foot and then drives a low shot past Scurry at her near post. Not good goalkeeping I'm afraid.

"Drop the Wambach thing please already. Wambach is the most fouled player in the women's game today - needed stitches the other day as well - didn't complain about it. It's a physical yet fair game they play - unlike the men - who whine and cry. May the best team win!"
colonialvet on 606

"I'm cheering on the USA. My money's on them. Unbeaten in 51 they won't lose."
Del boy London via text

You might have just made yourself look like a right plonker there Del.

1319: GOAL USA 0-1 Brazil
Brazil go in front from a corner but it is far from pretty for the USA. From a seemingly harmless ball into the near post Leslie Osborne opts to stoop to try and head it to safety but can only glance it into her own net.

1316: The game has just been held up as Elaine has gone down after taking a bit of a knock. She looks like a tough, old unit though - she'll be OK I reckon.

1312: The first booking of the game goes to Boxx for a late lunge. Looked a bit harsh in my humble and uneducated opinion.

1311: It's all a bit quiet on the texts as well. Just someone talking about KT Tunstall being rubbish. I didn't even think she was playing today.

1310: It's all gone a bit quiet over in China, well certainly on the field as the action has died down after a bright start. Off the field it is lively with the Chinese fans firmly behind the Brazilians.

"I suspect Mr Solo was simply upset that you addressed him Hans rather than his actual name, Han."
tardmaster on 606

Thanks for pointing that out tardmaster. I'll get my coat.

1306: The girls from Brazil have stepped it up a notch and Scurry fails her first test as she comes out flapping like a female David James. Elaine fails to make her pay when she volleys over from a tight angle.

1304: It's end-to-end stuff early doors and Brazil have a good shout for a penalty as Christiane shows a clean pair of heels to Whitehill, who looks to have clipped those clean heels.

"Please let it be Brazil! They play far more attractive football and have scored some brilliant goals. Besides after Wambach's 'accidental' elbow on Faye White I've gone right off the Americans!"
wondergeorge123 on 606

1301: The North Americans are not messing around as Chalupny warms the hands of Andreia with a long-range effort.

1300: We're off bang on time in Hangzhou.

1257: If you were with us yesterday you'd know that the winners of this game will meet Germany in Sunday's final in Shanghai. The losers will face 1995 champions Norway in that all-important third/fourth place play-off - also in Shanghai on Sunday.

1255: Remember this game is live on BBC Two and on the BBC Sport website if you prefer pictures to words. You could probably even set up your screen to watch it and read my nonsense at the same time.

1252: Hope Solo is not happy. She said: "I'm not happy - not one bit." I told you she wasn't happy. Her brother Hans was apparently too distraught to comment.

1249: The big news ahead of the game was the USA's decision to drop goalkeeper Hope Solo in favour of Briana Scurry. Coach Greg Ryan put the switch down to the way Brazil play - he's expecting their keeper to make plenty of "reaction-type saves" - and he says Scurry is the best in the world.

1245: But this is not about me - it's about you. It's your special day. How do you think the game will go? Fire me over your views by dropping me a text on 81111 or get involved on 606. Remember keep it clean and you might get published.

1241: Welcome back for another dose of wonderful Women's World Cup action. On the menu today is the might of the US of A and everyone's second team - Brazil.
