Scotland striker Julie Fleeting's double helped Arsenal beat Birmingham City 3-0 and put them in the Premier League Cup quarter-finals.

Gemma Davison gave Arsenal the lead in 21st minute with a solo goal, rounding keeper Sue Wood before finishing.

Fleeting scored five minutes after the break and then in the final minute.

In the only Premier League match of the weekend, Sunderland held Cardiff City to a 1-1 draw that lifted the Black Cats out of the relegation zone.

Davison opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 21st minute, the striker cutting in from the right then going round goalkeeper Sue Wood to put the ball in the net.

Fleeting hit her first goal following good work by Jayne Ludlow and Lianne Sanderson five minutes into the second half.

And Fleeting completed the scoring in the final minute, when she collected a Kelly Smith pass before shooting home from close range.

The Gunners are now set to meet West Ham in next month's quarter-finals.

Jessica Fishlock volleyed home from a Terri Beddows cross to give Cardiff a 50th-minute lead.

But 20 minutes from time Natalie Gutteridge hit the equaliser with a shot that flew in off the underside of the bar.

The result moved Sunderland two places up the table with Blackburn Rovers dropping into the relegation zone.
