Defender Lanre Oyebanjo leaves Histon for York City
Oyebanjo spent three years at Histon
Histon defender Lanre Oyebanjo has joined Blue Square Bet Premier side York City on a two-year deal.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Bootham Crescent.
Oyebanjo, 21, told BBC Radio York: "It's a massive club. I've played against them for the last three seasons so I know the quality of the club.
"It's where I made my debut three years ago. I went round the city, it looks very nice, looks like a family place."
He added: "In the Conference there are leagues within leagues and they're up there with the rest of the [former] League sides."
The right-back, who has put studying for a maths and finance degree on hold to move to North Yorkshire, is the third new arrival in three days as Gary Mills tries to get the Minstermen promoted in their eighth season in non-league football.
"It's been a busy week, a productive week," Mills said.
"I've brought some good footballers to the club. Lanre has come in now, we've worked hard to get him, we've had to be patient but boy is he a good player.
"It just shows what a good player he is to get into the Under-21 Republic of Ireland side, even at Histon who are a struggling side, but he's at York now.
"I think he'll develop very well for us, so I'm delighted to have him here."
Oyebanjo spent three seasons at the Glassworld Stadium.
