York City sign Greaves and Ingham

York City

York City have signed Burton's Mark Greaves, 33, and 28-year-old Hereford goalkeeper Michael Ingham.

Greaves can play in either defence or midfield, while Northern Ireland international Ingham has previously been on loan at Bootham Crescent.

Boss Colin Walker said: "Greaves has got plenty of experience at this level. He played 50 times last year for a team that got into the play-offs."

As for Ingham, he added: "He liked it the last time he was here."

An experienced centre-back and goalkeeper were always top of Walker's summer requirements after York conceded more than 70 goals last season.

Hopefully we'll have another midfield player and a centre-forward before the end of the month

Greaves spent six years at Hull City and five years at Boston.

"He can multi-task, he can play centre-half or in the middle of midfield, and we're going to help the defenders by the other signing, a bigger goalkeeper with more presence," Walker added.

Ingham played for the club in a loan spell five years ago.

"He's got an affinity with the club. He wanted to come back and play here, I didn't have to sell the club to him at all," said Walker.

And Walker claims further signings are in the pipeline.

"I won't name names but there are four or five people that I've spoken to and I'm waiting for them to get back to me. Hopefully we'll have another midfield player and a centre-forward before the end of the month," he said.
