Defender Jon Maloney is interested in signing for York despite interest from several League clubs.
Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Northampton are all said to be interested in the 20-year-old free agent, who is a former York loan player.
But Maloney told the Evening Press: "I enjoyed working under manager Billy McEwan and would be really keen to talk to the club about returning to City."
Maloney, a student at Leeds University, was released by Doncaster.
