York City player-manager Chris Brass has signed experienced winger Kevin Donovan, 32, on a one-year contract.
He had joined York on non-contract terms near the end of last season, but did not play due to personal reasons.
"It's a shame nobody got to see what Kevin's capable of last season when he could not play because of family circumstances," Brass explained.
"He's a right-winger which is a position we found hard to fill last season," he told the Evening Press.
Donovan made over 400 League appearances for Huddersfield, Halifax, West Brom, Grimsby, Barnsley and Rochdale before joining the Minstermen.
