Smith agrees York contract
Chris Smith in action for York
Smith signed from Reading
York City defender Chris Smith has agreed a 12-month deal at Bootham Crescent.

Smith follows Christian Fox in agreeing new terms after an earlier decision to release the pair was reversed by recently-appointed player-boss Chris Brass.

Smith, 22, joined York two seasons ago from Reading and started 33 league games for the Minstermen last season.

"Getting Smithy back on board is a big plus, especially if he continues to progress like he did last season," Brass told the York Evening Press newspaper.

"If he does continue along those lines, I am sure he will go on to bigger and better things."

Graham Potter had also been offered a new deal but has signed for Boston United.

Potter's departure means Brass will take a look at former Leeds and Huddersfield full-back Gareth Evans.
