Howarth eyes Everton switch
York City goalkeeper Russell Howarth is hoping to land a dream move to Everton.
Howarth spent a short spell on trial with David Moyes' side at the end of last season and admits he would love to follow that up with a permanent switch. "It was great at Goodison Park. I really enjoyed the experience, had a couple of days training and then played for them in a testimonial game up at Falkirk.
"I haven't heard anything from David Moyes yet, but with my contract being up soon, hopefully there'll be a few more looking at me. "I'd like to think I'm good enough to get something with Everton. Playing at that level makes you want more of it. "Everything was superb from the training facilities to the actual playing side and I'm hoping I'll get a deal," he told York's official website. Howarth has been offered a new contract at York but looks certain to leave Bootham Crescent, where he has been kept out of the first-team by former Northern Ireland international Alan Fettis. The 20-year-old, who has also had trials with Sunderland and Wolves, has started just one League game in the past two seasons but has seen international duty this summer with England's under-20 and under-21 sides.
