Yeovil release Forinton
Yeovil Town striker Howard Forinton has been released by the Nationwide Conference leaders.

Forinton is to undergo surgery on both ankles and has not had his monthly contract renewed.

He knows that there are certain parts of his game that he just can't do

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson

However, Glovers' boss Gary Johnson has not ruled out a return for the former Peterborough and Birmingham frontman if he can get over his injury problems.

Johnson said: "He's been struggling more and more as the days have gone on and I think we've all seen that.

"We've all appreciated what he's done for us and we will try and help him all we can.

"But he knows that there are certain parts of his game that he just can't do.

"He's very upset about it, but he's going to get an operation wherever he can, either through us or through another system.

He's done a great job for us and hopefully one day he will come back

"When he's back, we can try and help him again. But at the moment he needs that operation and I can't see at this point any other action that can be taken.

"He'll probably need until the end of the season. They say six to seven weeks for the operation, but by the time he rehabilitates as well, that will be it.

"He's done a great job for us and hopefully one day he will come back," Johnson told the club's website.

Forinton, 27, started the season with Torquay before joining Yeovil for a second spell. He scored four goals in 11 starts to help the club to top spot in the table.
