Wycombe appoint Waddock as boss

Wycombe have appointed Aldershot manager Gary Waddock as their new boss.

Wanderers parted company with Peter Taylor last week and have moved quickly to appoint the 47-year-old as well as Waddock's assistant Martin Kuhl.

Waddock said: "This has been the hardest decision I have ever had to make. I have had a fantastic time at Aldershot Town.

"The players and the backroom staff have played such a massive part in the success that we have had."

Aldershot have not yet named a caretaker manager to replace Waddock, but announced that they will make "further statements in due course regarding the ongoing managerial situation at the club."

Cheltenham's Martin Allen had previously ruled himself out of contention to replace Taylor, saying he "had no interest in Wycombe".

Waddock joined Aldershot in May 2007, leading the Shots to promotion from the Blue Square Premier back to the Football League in his first season, as well as winning the Setanta Shield.

After a mid-table finish in League Two last season, the Shots are currently sitting in sixth place.

Wycombe, in 23rd place in League One, have been without a manager since the departure last Friday of Taylor, who had led the Chairboys to promotion in May.
