Wycombe owner targets new ground

Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe owner Steve Hayes says a new ground is the way forward for the football team and Wasps rugby club.

Hayes now owns both clubs, after completing his takeover of Wanderers, this week.

He's optimistic that a replacement can be found for Adams Park, which he described as a budget stadium, showing signs of decay already.

He estimates that, during the next fifteen years, a lot of money will need to be spent on ground maintenance.

Hayes told BBC Three Counties Radio that he has to be optimistic about getting a new ground.

He said: "For Wycombe Wanderers and Wasps to move forward, it's the way to go.

"The delays at Hillbottom Road put a lot of people off attending."

Hayes says Adams Park wasn't the first choice of where to put a new stadium when the Wanderers were looking to move from their old Loakes Park ground.

Wycombe and Wasps will both be key partners in any new shared stadium in the town, according to Hayes.
