Broughton struggled to make an impact for the Dragons
Wrexham's end of season clear out has begun with three loan players appearing to have played their last games for the relegation-threatened club.
MK Dons striker Drewe Broughton and West Brom front man Stuart Nicholson have been told they will not feature again this season.
And Robert Duffy, who is injured, is returning to Oxford United.
"The manager has said he's going to throw in some youngsters and give others a chance," said a club official.
"They are not being sent back in disgrace or anything like that. But we have 39 players on our books.''
All three have failed to make any significant impact for Wrexham. Broughton scored two goals in 16 appearances, Nicholson failed to score in nine starts while Duffy was restricted to six substitute outings.
Meanwhile, two Wrexham youngsters have returned from loan spells at non-league clubs.
Levi Mackin is back at the Racecourse after a spell at Droylsden while goalkeeper Michael Jones has returned from Hinckley.
Providing the paperwork is completed, the pair will re-join the Wrexham squad for Saturday's home League Two match against fellow strugglers Notts County.
