Striker Neil Roberts will be Wrexham's team captain for the new season.
The 28-year-old, a summer signing from Doncaster now in a second spell at his hometown club, was described by manager Denis Smith as a "natural leader".
Roberts is one of Smith's four senior players, along with club captain Dennis Lawrence, vice-captain Darren Ferguson and PFA representative Danny Williams.
"We are making a clean start off the field and will reflect that among the players," Smith told the Daily Post.
"The choice might surprise a few people, but I believe I've got the right person for the job and that he'll be popular with the players."
Wrexham sold ex-Wales international Roberts to Wigan for £450,000 in 2000, before he moved on to Doncaster in 2004 after loan spells with Bradford and Hull.
