Wolves have signed Ronald Zubar from Marseille for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old defender, who has signed a four-year contract, played 72 league games for the French club and scored two goals in three seasons.

Zubar is Wolves manager Mick McCarthy's sixth signing of the summer as he attempts to build a side capable of challenging in the Premier League.

"Ronald is a quick, powerful defender who has played for the French Under-21 team," said McCarthy.

"He has got Champions League experience and he will prove a very valuable addition to the squad."

Guadeloupe-born Zubar, whose began his career with Caen, will join up with the Wolves squad for the first time on the club's pre-season tour of Australia.

He will be joined by fellow summer signing, Serbian midfielder Nenad Milijas, who arrived from Red Star Belgrade.

Former Celtic defender Bobo Balde, who is currently a free agent, is also expected to travel with McCarthy's squad as he bids to earn a deal with the West Midlands side.

Wolves will face Perth Glory and former England striker Robbie Fowler's North Queensland Fury side on their Australian tour.

Along with Zubar and Milijas, McCarthy has signed defender Greg Halford, striker Kevin Doyle, midfielder Andrew Surman and goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann this summer.
