Kightly's season ended by injury

Wolves winger Michael Kightly will miss the Championship run-in after a scan confirmed he has broken a metatarsal in his left foot.

Kightly left the field before half-time in Tuesday's friendly with Shrewsbury at Wolves' Compton Park facility.

He had to be helped back to the medical room and was later taken to have tests.

"To miss the last six games when we're in the position we are is the worst thing that could happen," Kightly told the club's website.

"If everything goes as well as we hope and we end up getting promoted then I'll have missed out on all the excitement and the celebrating - I don't think I'll feel part of it."

The former Grays Athletic winger, 23, will require surgery on the injury but hopes to be fit for the start of pre-season training in the summer.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy will draw some consolation from the news that another winger, Matt Jarvis, is ready to return to full training and may be able to play a part in the final six games.
