Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back George Elokobi has been handed a contract extension, despite being ruled out for the season though injury.

Elokobi, 23, who was signed from Colchester a year ago, had surgery on his left knee after being injured in the 2-0 win at Ipswich in August.

But he is making sufficient progress to have been handed a 12-month extension, tying him to Wolves until 2011.

"I'm very happy that the club decided to sort my contract out," he said.

"I'm happy here, I feel at home. I've got an exceptional manager and coaching staff and from the chairman all the way down to the tea lady at the club, everyone seems to like me - especially the fans.

"I want to repay the club for the loyalty they have shown me," Elokobi added.

Elokobi is due to see a specialist in London in March.
