In-form Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo has been named the Championship player of the month for November.

The Scottish international followed Wolves boss Mick McCarthy's feat of being voted manager of the month, scoring six goals in six games.

Iwelumo responded to the disappointment of his international debut for Scotland at Hampden Park, bouncing back to take his Wolves tally for the season to 15.

"November was a good month for Wolves and for me as well," said Iwelumo.

The other contenders for the award were Burnley's Chris Eagles, Reading's Kevin Doyle and Sheffield United's James Beattie.

Wolves enjoyed five straight wins in November, dropping their only points in the 1-1 home draw with main rivals Birmingham City.

"I'm here to score goals and help the team win games," Iwelumo told the club website. "And I think the month of November epitomised that."

Iwelumo is now aiming for his best ever goal-scoring season, just four short of his 19-goal season's best haul at Colchester three years ago.

The forward, who joined from Charlton during the summer, has scored 13 of those 15 goals in the league and is second in the scoring charts behind Doyle.
