Wolves consider Hungarian link-up

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves are meeting officials from Hungarian First Division club Ujpest with a view to forming an alliance.

Officials from the Budapest-based team are due at Molineux this month, taking in two games and holding talks.

"We have had some initial discussions in Budapest with the officials of Ujpest," Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the club's website.

"We touched on the issues of loaning players, academies and sharing of best practice on and off the field."

During their visit the Hungarian officials will see the Championship games against Derby and Barnsley, while four of Ujpest's younger players will train with the Wolves Academy.

"We have no preconceived ideas about where these discussions might lead," added Moxey. "But we have entered them with enthusiasm and an open mind."

Wolves have a long association with Hungary dating back to their famous meeting in 1954 with Honved, who returned to Molineux to officially open the rebuilt stadium in 1993.
