No offers in for Kightly - Wolves

Jez Moxey
Moxey is determined to keep Wolves' rising stars at Molineux

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey has rejected media reports that he has received offers for Michael Kightly.

The winger's former chairman at Grays Athletic, Mick Woodward, had claimed a 4m bid had been lodged by a Premier League club.

But Moxey told BBC WM: "I'm just stunned really. There's no substance to it whatsoever.

"We've had no bid for Michael Kightly and he's gone on record publicly to say that his future lies here."

If Wolves do receive an irresistible bid for the England under-21 international, Grays stand to benefit from a sell-on clause agreed when Kightly moved to Molineux permanently in January 2007, and Moxey believes that is what Woodward has in mind.

"Let's just say that can be the only reason, the motivation for creating some publicity," Moxey said.

"It's the forlorn hope that this might encourage somebody else to make a bid for one of our players, Michael Kightly in this instance. It can't be anything else because there's absolutely nothing in it."

This is not the first time this close season that the Wolves chief executive has reacted to media speculation about the future of the club's young stars.

"We've had lots of speculation about Wayne Hennessey, speculation about Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, about Michael Kightly, and all three players have gone into the media of their own volition declaring their future is here at Wolves.

"They've said how they're enjoying being at Molineux, and that's the best endorsement you can get," Moxey added.
