Cole joins Wolves on loan
Chelsea's exciting young striker Carlton Cole
Cole will get first-team experience at Wolves
Chelsea's highly-rated teenage striker Carlton Cole has gone on a month's loan to Wolves to help their bid for promotion to the Premiership.

The 19-year old has already made four first-team appearances for the Blues so far this season despite injury, scoring three goals in the process.

He has been tipped by chairman Ken Bates as a future England international but the club feel his best short-term interests would be served by a spell in the First Division.

Wolves have been searching for a loan signing since Nathan Blake was injured, with a move for veteran Tottenham striker Les Ferdinand having recently been rejected.

Carlton has the chance to build his confidence and score some goals

Chelsea chief executive Trevor Birch

"As everyone knows, Carlton has done excellently this season when he has been given a chance in the first team," Chelsea chief executive Trevor Birch told the club's official website.

"But with Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink now back to full fitness and Gianfranco Zola in such good form, he was only likely to receive a limited opportunity to play in the short term.

"This loan is ideal as he will have the chance to play regularly in a good side at a good level, build his confidence further and hopefully score some goals."
