Taylor says discussions between the clubs should have remained private

Woking chairman David Taylor has said Crawley Town's offer for winger Matt Pattison was "insulting."

Taylor also revealed the bid for the 24-year-old, who has scored 11 goals in 54 appearances since joining the Cards in 2007, totalled £5,000.

Taylor told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "I wouldn't even consider it an offer quite frankly, it's an insult."

"If Crawley think that Matt Pattison is worth £5,000 then we need look at their assessment of players' values."

Taylor also said the conversation between Woking manager Phil Gilchrist and Crawley manager Steve Evans was not intended for the public domain.

"It was agreed the conversation would stay private, Steve Evans chose to make that public."

Reds boss Evans told the club's official website: "They have said they want a sum for him that is ludicrous in today's football market but they are entitled to value him at whatever price they see fit.

"Money everywhere in football is very tight and we thought we made what we consider to be a good offer, considering the lad is out of contract in the summer."

Taylor has also denied reports that Cambridge United have made a bid for defender Tom Hutchinson.
