Dons' plan with FA again
Football League chief executive David Burns
David Burns says the plan raises "fundamental issues"
Wimbledon's attempt to relocate to Milton Keynes is back in the hands of the Football Association (FA).

On Friday the Football League decided they could not make a decision for or against the plan and referred it back to the FA.

League chief executive David Burns said: "Wimbledon's application to relocate to Milton Keynes raises fundamental issues relating to the way football in this country is organised.

"The potential ramifications for clubs, players and fans at all levels of the football pyramid - including not only Football League clubs but also those clubs above and below it - are significant.

Full co-operation

"Therefore, to ensure the focus of the enquiry is sufficiently broad and all exclusive, and that the views of all interested parties are taken into account, the board has taken the decision to refer the matter to an FA commission.

"The Football League will co-operate in full with that commission, including making submissions to it regarding the issues raised by Wimbledon's application."

Dons chairman Charles Koppel has been trying to move the Division One club to a new stadium in Milton Keynes.

Many fans are against the plan and want the club to return to the London borough of Merton.

They currently ground-share with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The matter has been referred back and forth between the league and the FA, with neither organisation able to come to a final decision.
