Kinnear offers Dons lifeline
Luton manager Joe Kinnear
Kinnear led the Dons to their highest Premiership finish
Luton manager Joe Kinnear has invited former club Wimbledon to groundshare a new stadium with the Hatters.

The Dons are still awaiting a decision from the game's authorities over their proposal to relocate to Milton Keynes.

The Football League are meeting on Wednesday to rule whether the Football League Board or the Football Association should make the decision.

Kinnear has now offered his old club the chance to share a new 25,000-seater stadium to be built on a 55-acre site near Junction 10 of the M1 motorway.

"That wouldn't be such a bad idea even if we had to groundshare now in a new stadium near Luton," said Kinnear.

"Our fan base would double with a bigger stadium, but if people wanted to come in with us I don't think that would do us any harm at all.

"I'm disappointed with the way it's going at Wimbledon. I loved my time there and I loved the supporters.

"Maybe some of them would watch Luton as well."

Kinnear spent seven years at Wimbledon, leading them to their highest Premiership finish and two semi-finals before being temporarily forced out of the game by a heart attack.

The Football League refused Wimbledon permission to move to Milton Keynes, but a tribunal ordered the League to look at the issue again.

The matter has been in the hands of the legal teams of both sides for several weeks.
