Profile: Des Byrne
Wimbledon's Des Byrne arrives at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court
Des Byrne is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 player
Desmond Byrne joined first division side Wimbledon from Dublin's St. Patrick's Athletic for 100,000 at the start of last season.

A former trainee with Stockport County, Byrne has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 level.

He is seen by manager Terry Burton as a player for the future as Wimbledon try to return to the Premiership.

A left-footed defender, Bryne captained the reserves on several occasions last season.

At the start of this season, Wimbledon sent him on loan to Cambridge United.

He was born in Dublin in 1981.
