Connolly move hits snag
David Connolly
The Irishman could be banned if he joins Wimbledon
Wimbledon new boy David Connolly is at the centre of a transfer riddle which could threaten his move from Dutch giants Feyenoord.

Another Dutch club, AZ Alkmaar, claim the Republic of Ireland international had already signed a three-year contract with them and therefore cannot go to the Dons.

Alkmaar may ask Fifa to ban Connolly if he refuses to play for them.

"We are not looking for any kind of claim," said AZ director Jan Kasper.

"We just want Connolly to keep his part of the deal."

The former Watford star, 24, has spent three years in Holland but has agreed to help Terry Burton's side return to the top flight.

"It was a great experience for me and I think I'm a much better player for having played there," he said.

"However, I'm now looking to take that experience and use it positively by scoring goals for Wimbledon to take us back to the Premiership."
