Wigan have beaten off a host of Premiership clubs to sign Norwegian international Kristofer Haestad.
Haestad has played 11 times for Norway
The highly-rated midfielder, 23, who has won 11 caps, has joined on loan for the rest of the season from IK Start.
"I know there were other Premiership clubs in the hunt too, so I'm delighted to have got him on board," Wigan boss Paul Jewell told the club's website.
"He can play anywhere across the middle, and at 23, he's at the right age to test himself in this league."
