France defender Pascal Chimbonda is confident he will move to Tottenham from Wigan by the end of next week.
Chimbonda was named in the PFA team for this season
Wigan have rejected a £3m bid from Tottenham for the French right-back.
"I think it'll be settled on the rest days - next Friday or Saturday." said World Cup-bound Chimbonda. "I haven't spoken to Spurs, but my agent has."
The 27-year-old defender handed in a transfer request within minutes of Wigan's 4-2 defeat at Arsenal on the final day of the Premiership season.
France coach Raymond Domenech wants all transfers settled before the squad heads to Germany on 8 June.
Chimbonda, who has also been linked with Manchester United, added: "As a footballer you always want to play at the highest level, and moving to Tottenham will help me take the next step forward.
"If I quit Wigan it's to go as far as possible in the game.
"Of course going to Manchester United would be nice, but there is Gary Neville there. He is a legend.
"Of course it is difficult to refuse a club like Manchester United, but only Tottenham has made Wigan an offer."
Wigan signed Chimbonda for a bargain £500,000 from French club Bastia last summer.
Wigan have said they want at least £6m for Chimbonda.
