Wigan boss Paul Jewell has been rewarded for taking his team to the top of the Championship by being named manager of the month for August.
The Latics have claimed 14 points from six unbeaten games to top the table ahead of Stoke on goal difference.
Potters boss Tony Pulis, Joe Royle of Ipswich and Plymouth's Bobby Williamson were also nominated for the award.
Jewell refused to read too much into his award, saying: "We've had a good start, but it's still early days yet."
But he added: "It's better to have points on the board now rather than playing catch-up.
"I would hope that we're in the running for this award again later in the season because that will mean things have continued to progress in the right direction."
