Mexico striker Guillermo Franco is to leave West Ham after the club decided against extending his contract.

The 33-year-old's one-year contract expires at the end of June and the east London club have told him they will not offer him a new deal.

He scored five goals in 23 matches for the Hammers but said the club "told me 'bye bye' so I won't be with West Ham next season".

West Ham signed Franco in September after he was released by Villarreal.

"I don't know where I'll be next season," added Franco.

"Now my focus is on the international team and the World Cup and then I'll think about next season.

"Of course I enjoyed my time at West Ham. The supporters and the people were fantastic."

The striker scored Mexico's goal in Monday's 3-1 friendly defeat by England and is expected to feature prominently for his country during the World Cup.
