West Ham insist they will not sell unsettled goalkeeper Robert Green or offer him an improved contract.
He appeared to throw his future into doubt by telling a national newspaper he was unhappy with his wages.
But the club say when Green, 28, signed a five-year deal in 2007 the date for a review was given as the summer of 2009.
Chief executive Scott Duxbury told the West Ham website: "This was and remains the appropriate time to review it. We have no intention of selling him."
Green, who has one England cap, believes he is underpaid compared with several other West Ham players and feels "undervalued".
However, Duxbury explained: "Less than a year ago, Robert Green entered into a five-year contract.
