Hammers 'set to discuss takeover'
West Ham United
West Ham could be set to decide on Wednesday whether a planned takeover of the club will be given the green light.

The Hammers' board is set to meet to discuss the viability of a reported bid by a consortium led by Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian.

"It is understood the issue of a takeover is going to be on the agenda of the main board meeting," said BBC Five Live's Gordon Farquhar.

"The board will make a 'put up or shut up' demand on the consortium."

He added: "The club will want a firm offer from them in the next two weeks and proof they have the money and also an acceptable business plan."

Farquhar said he did not believe that West Ham were set to abandon plans of a takeover because manager Alan Pardew had threatened to walk out, as reported in Wednesday's newspapers.

"I don't buy the Pardew thing. This deal is worth at least 80m just for value of the ground and buildings. And if Pardew is told by any prospective buyer he's got millions to invest in the team then he may change his mind," he added.
