West Ham boss Alan Pardew is set to step up his pursuit of Norwich striker Dean Ashton.
Norwich are holding out for £8m for Hammers target Dean Ashton
The Hammers are believed to have already had a £7m bid turned down for the 22-year-old.
But the Canaries, who are pushing for a Championship play-off place are understood to be holding out for another £1m.
Pardew is looking to boost his forward line, despite managing to get Bobby Zamora to extend his contract to 2010.
Ashton has become the Hammers' number one target and has scored 18 goals in 46 games since his £3m move to Carrow Road from Crewe a year ago.
Pardew is also looking for a right back to replace Tomas Repka, who is returning to the Czech Republic.
