Hammers snap up Cisse
Edouard Cisse in action for Paris St Germain
Cisse is West Ham's fourth summer signing
West Ham have signed Paris St Germain midfielder Edouard Cisse on a season's loan.

The former France Under-21 international impressed in a trial and will complete a permanent move if his loan is a success.

"He had a day with us last week - he really caught our imagination and we his," said Hammers boss Glenn Roeder.

The Premiership is the most exciting championship and I am really looking forward to playing for West Ham
Edouard Cisse

"I first saw him a couple of years ago, and although I wasn't going to watch him, he always caught the eye.

"He is 6ft 1in, has made 120 or so starts for PSG and has played in the Champions League and the Uefa Cup.

"If he really impresses we will give him a permanent deal, and a fee has already been agreed if it comes to that."

West Ham have signed Republic of Ireland defender Gary Breen, goalkeeper Raimond van der Gouw and 18-year-old French striker Youssef Soufiane on free transfers this summer.

And Roeder hopes Cisse's arrival will increase competition for places in midfield.

"I hope West Ham make Europe this season - and I will do my best to help them win every week," Cisse told West Ham's website.

"The Premiership is the most exciting championship and I am really looking forward to playing for West Ham."
