Boaz Myhill hopeful about Baggies future

West Bromwich Albion keeper Boaz Myhill insists that there is plenty of life left in the Baggies after helping to end their poor run last weekend.

The summer signing from Hull City was finally brought in for his Albion league debut after a string of errors by first-choice keeper Scott Carson.

But, having ended a run of six straight defeats with a 3-2 win over Blackpool, Myhill insists they were not worried.

"It's not like we were being outplayed. There's plenty of life in us," he said.

"We were always making plenty of chances. It was just a question of taking them.

"After so many games without a point, to get all three was brilliant."

USA-born, Shropshire-bred Myhill, 28, has had to be patient since making his move to The Hawthorns this summer, having played only cup games for the Baggies this season.

But, having caught the eye in two seasons of Premier League football as Hull City's number one, the former Aston Villa trainee has now been handed the chance to stake a claim to be Albion's number one.

The Wales international replaced Carson after finally given the nod to take over from the former England keeper.

And, ahead of Sunday's high-profile televised trip to Blackburn, he told BBC WM: "It was the icing on the cake to be told I was playing last weekend.

"It's been a change for me after spending so long at one club.

"I believe we have two good goalkeepers here, and Dean Kiely as well, who is moving more in to the coaching side of things, but is still very talented".

Oswestry-educated Myhill made 277 appearances in his six and a half years a Hull and has now won nine caps for Wales.
