West Brom defender Jonas Olsson out for six weeks

West Brom defender Jonas Olsson could be out until mid-December with the Achilles injury he picked up during the win over Fulham on 23 October.

Manager Roberto di Matteo had been hopeful of a swift return for the Swede but on Friday he said: "With Jonas we are looking at a longer injury.

"I would like to keep it down to weeks, but it won't be two weeks.

"It will definitely be around the five or six-week mark. He's not going to be back within two weeks that's for sure."

Olsson, signed from Dutch side NEC Nijmegen in August 2008, limped off after 55 minutes of the 2-1 victory over the Cottagers.

The Swede did not play in the 6-0 defeat on the opening day of the season at Chelsea but had since featured in every Premier League fixture for Di Matteo's side before he suffered his injury.

Striker Peter Odemwingie could return for Sunday's match against Manchester City, but James Morrison remains a doubt with a knee injury sustained in training.

Nigeria international Odemwingie has not played since the 1-1 draw against Bolton on 2 October, but Di Matteo added: "Peter has joined in with us so we will have to see how he reacts.

"With James Morrison, it's touch and go with his knee, but, if it's not Sunday, then hopefully he will be available for the next game. It's assessment on a daily basis with him."
