West Bromwich Albion's Robert Koren eyes promotion

Koren will head off to the World Cup this summer with Slovenia

West Brom's midweek match-winner Robert Koren insists the team are on track for the Premier League after the 1-0 victory at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Slovenian midfielder settled the Baggies fans' nerves with a stunning goal 11 minutes from time.

"It was a really good strike, so I'm really happy I helped the team out," Koren, 29, told BBC WM.

"The most important thing time is the team is winning and that the team will go up to the Premier League."

Koren was introduced as a half-time substitute against Wednesday, replacing an out-of-sorts Jerome Thomas, linking up in midfield with a fit-again James Morrison.

The pair have already been involved in one promotion season at the Hawthorns, a factor they hope to use to their advantage.

"Of course we have experience from before, so we can help a lot," Koren said.

"But everybody in the team is really important, it's not just one or two players. If somebody's sitting on the bench it's really important to come into the game and helping the team out.

"It's 11 games until the end of the season and we need to stick together and get the right results."

It promises to be a nerve-racking end to the season as West Brom battle with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest for the two automatic promotion positions.

And Koren is taking nothing for granted ahead of the weekend game at home to play-off hopefuls Blackpool.

"We know already how strong Blackpool are, we played them away and we are expecting a really hard game again," he noted.

"Every team that comes here puts an extra effort in and every game is really hard."
