Olsson upbeat on Albion survival

Jonas Olsson believes the Baggies can secure their Premier League place

West Brom defender Jonas Olsson is confident that they can avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Baggies have not got a point in seven away games, a record they will try to end at Aston Villa on Saturday.

But the 25-year old Swede feels that the recent home wins over Manchester City and Tottenham have raised morale.

"It's not nice to look at the table when you're at the bottom. But we've closed the gap above us, Olsson told BBC WM. "We're five points from 11th."

Olsson says manager Tony Mowbray has put extra emphasis on combating the pace of the Villa forwards on Saturday lunchtime.

"Agbonlahor has got really good pace, so we're going to have to try and cope with that," said the former NEC Nijmegen defender.

"We've done a lot of work on it this week. It's about getting tight on them and not letting them get too much space. But not too tight so you get beaten over your head."
