Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of midfielder Borja Valero for a club record fee of £4.7m.
Valero arrives from Spanish outfit Real Mallorca on a four-year deal and is the Baggies' ninth signing of the summer.
Manager Tony Mowbray has now spent close to £20m this summer strengthening for their Premier League return.
"Borja can link up play from back to front and he will enhance our excellent midfield options we," Mowbray said.
"From a footballing point of view he possesses many of the attributes I like in a player.
"He has got great technical ability and weight of pass, has an excellent work-rate and an eye for a goal.
"I don't think he will have any problems settling into our team, or playing in the Premier League, although he will obviously need some time to adjust to the English game."
As well as Valero, the Baggies have signed keeper Scott Carson, striker Luke Moore, defenders Abdoulaye Meite and Gianni Zuiverloon and midfielder Marek Cech.
The deal eclipses the £3.5m Albion paid Cardiff for Robert Earnshaw, who joined in August 2004.
