Wallwork released from hospital
Ronnie Wallwork
Wallwork was given a new two-year contract by West Brom in August
West Brom midfielder Ronnie Wallwork has been released from the Manchester Royal Infirmary following surgery to repair multiple stab wounds.

The 29-year-old, who is on loan to Barnsley, suffered wounds to the hand, stomach and back in an attack at a Manchester bar just over a week ago.

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray said: "Ronnie is out of hospital and he is at home. It's a very positive sign.

"We envisage he will need some time to recover and some time with his family."

Wallwork's agent, Neill Sillett, told BBC Sport last week that the former Manchester United midfielder would try to make a playing return to football.

Mowbray was also keen to help Wallwork in his recovery, saying: "We just want Ronnie to get himself back in a physical condition where he's comfortable and get him training again."

Wallwork joined Barnsley on loan on 23 November and had started two games since his switch from the Hawthorns.

Great Manchester Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the stabbing.
